Fail

The movie we were suppose to watch kept pausing so we decided to watch Charlie Chaplin videos :]
It's been a long week, and today was a long day. Hopefully tomorrow will go by fast so I can go to sleep. I'm still excited for Saturday. It's a completely new experience for me and that's why I'm mostly excited. Well I'm getting paid, too. I'm excited for that.

Faster, faster

I am excited for my first day working. I'll be working from 10-4 and I'm sure there will be some boring points during the day but who cares? I'm getting paid!

Jim Bonnie Workshop:
So much fun!! There was a lot of positive energy in the room. The energy was more light and bright than it usually is. We worked on scripts today, too. They weren't scenes from a play. There was person "A" and person "B." The text was minimal and was lacking subtext. It was up to us, the actors, to give the text depth and meaning. We came up with the craziest stories for each pair. I was paired with Elisa and our situation was that we used to be best friends and I found out that she is dating my Dad. We first read the text through, then we repeated each lines, then we read the text for the first half then improved the rest of the scene. The repetition really helps when working on a scene. I like repeating lines than repeating random words because it helps improve my acting more. I think it makes a bigger difference. I was trying so hard to get into the scene and I was getting into it but my face wasn't - I couldn't stop smiling! Ugh. The situation was so funny at I when I felt myself really getting into it I would uncontrollably smile.
Every other group was great too! We are a better group than last year by far. It just disappointing that the workshop has to end on Friday because I want to keep improving my acting in this workshop.

100!

100 blog posts!! =]
Today was a very good day: I got a job and definite prom date!
Today in chamber we listened to three years of recordings of chamber. I was reminded why I wanted to be in chamber so badly. I was also reminded why Herricks has a reputation for a great music department. Chamber choir helped create this reputation. We are so different from other high school chamber choirs because of the songs we sing. We singing a lot of world music unlike other choirs which stick to a more classical track (Brahms, Mozart, etc..)
If the budget doesn't pass, who knows what will happen to chamber and the music department. It could all be gone by next school year. Even though I wont be here next year it worries me to know that Herricks might be completely different next year. The last thing I want is for Herricks to lose its music program. I feel like in some cases we set the rank for surrounding school districts. Not just musically but academically. Herricks spends the least out of the surrounding school districts but we still excel higher in many areas. Who knows what will happen next year.

Good Things Are A'Comin

AGHSDFGSD!! I cannot wait for college! I just came back from senior rehearsal and I realized that I will be dancing so much in college! I am so exctied! Ooooh and I'll deff be taking modern and tap, too! Yes! Yes! YES!! And one hour voice lessons a week and acting classes!! These thoughts couldn't make me happier.

April showers bring may flowers. It rained today. Again. Hopefully may will be gorgeous! my optimism wants me to think of this rhyme as an analogy. The bad times in April will being good times in may. I pray that this is true. Can the oodles of good times come may 1? Please?

"No Such Thing" John Mayer

Aghh he is having a concert for his latest album, Battle Studies, in July at Jones Beach. I would do anything to be there. But tickets went on sale about a week ago. Wouldn't be surprised if the show is sold out.

Sunday Sundayyyy

Pretty lame weekend but it was relaxing so I shouldn't complain. I was watching youtube videos of "Every Little Step" last night and it makes me want to be in ACL so badly! The two parts I really want to be are impossible for me to be casted in. Connie Wong and Val Clark. I couldn't be Connie because I'm not Asain and techinically 4'10. I'm 5' foot but really 2 inches doesn't make that much of a difference. I can't be Val because my chest isn't big enough. Watching the trailer for the documentary gets me so excited!! I can't wait to start auditioning!!

Rob Workshop 1

Yesterday was the first time I worked with Rob and I had a lot of fun! He's really cool. We were group into couples (my partner was Becky) and we had to take pictures while thinking about our secret. I had a hard time thinking about my secret at first. Then I began to come up with multiple secrets. I am not by any means a "camera whore" but I enjoyed shooting Becky and being in front of the camera multiple times. The magazine is going to be like nothing I've ever seen before. Like Becky said in her blog, "It's gutsy." It really is. It is taboo because we our showing the reader in our most vulnerable state.

Close to the Finish Line

It's nice and sunny outside and I'm stuck inside forced to clean my room and study. Fabulous. I wish school ended already! I'm tired of doing homework and taking tests. I'm so close to graduating but I still have some weeks left. I'm going to make the best of them because very shortly, I won't be in high school anymore and my life at Herricks will be over. Knowing that I'm almost done at Herricks is exciting and weird. I've been here since Kindergarten and I will soon be heading off to a completely new place and experience things I have never experienced before.

Today's Big Project Day

We finished the treatment!! It is so good and I can't wait to start filming. Cassie, Alex, Becky, and I are too excited for this film for it not to get done. I have a feeling the outcome will be like nothing I've ever worked on. Well, this project is already something totally knew to me. We started to pick out songs to match with the scenes/what is dance-able.

I'm Walking on Sunshine

It started to pour as I was walking home. most people would run home to prevent getting drenched, but not me! I walked home as a typical pace. I had so much fun walking in the rain in warm weather, getting wet, listening to good music. I could smell the rain and it was beautiful. Everything around me looked beautiful before it started to rain. The colors of the trees, some houses, and grass were so bright and bold against the gray sky. I can't wait to have more days like this!!

Workshop

Today's session was much more intense than the past few. We made an energy circle which helped us break down our "shells" and feel vulnerable. It was very spiritual but I believed it. I felt the energy coming from each person.

After the energy circle, we read "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. I love this song and remember doing the same exercise with "Iris" last year. I was reminded how people can bring text alive. The exercise was very powerful and moving.

This workshop group is much different than last year's group. We have more of a cohesiveness, which is really good for this workshop. It is only the beginning and I have learned many things. I can't wait to find out more in the next few weeks

Big Project Week 1

I will be helping Alex, Becky, and Cassie make a dance film. We created most of the treatment today and I can't wait to write a script and start filming! Today we also found a book on how to film dance because none of us new how to. We found a book that is perfect for what we need "Making Video Dance : A Step by Step Guide to Creating Dance for the Screen."

For the rest of the week our plan is to finish the treatment, picking out songs to use, and order the book. The final product is going to be amazing!

The book I am reading is "Jerome Robbins: His Life, His Theater, His Dance." I really like Jerome Robbins choreography and WSS is one of my favorite choreographed musicals. I don't know much about him except what my dance teacher tells me because he has worked with Jerome Robbins.

Busy Busy Busy

Choosing a college is harder than I thought. I would have never pictured myself considering buffalo. I just applied as somewhere I would rather go than NCC. But buffalo is a really good school, and it has a lot of pros. Also, I would get the most I guess typical college experience: far away from home on a college campus. The thing is - I have never visited Buffalo. I feel like if I had the chance to go there this week it would help me in making my decision. But of course, I have no way of getting there. It's causing me unnecessary stress.

I had a great weekend! I havn't been socially busy in a while and I missed it. I got to hang out with a lot of my friends and I wish I could do it all again!! Social business relaxes me which I find interesting because I know people who don't enjoy that type of busy.

Choices

School ends in less than 50 days. Aghhh this is so exciting!! It's nerve-wracking too because I don't know where I'm going yet. It's between Pace, Wagner, and U at Buffalo. All three are great schools. I made a pro and con list today and each school had either 1 or 2 cons. Buffalo and Wagner are tied for pros and Pace almost has the same amount of pros. By the end of the week I will definitely know where I'm going which is really exciting!! After I make my decision I will feel so relived. I knew that I would be down to the wire choosing a college. It's because I'm indecisive and I have a habit for second guessing myself in certain situations. These are 2 qualities I'm not proud of. How do I stop being indecision and doubting myself?

Save the Music

2 weeks I will know where I'm going to college! Aghhhh!
Today I volunteered at Herrick;s First Jazz Fest. It was really good. The jazz groups were really good - especially the middle school group! Me and some friends were talking and I realized how fortunate Herricks is to have a strong, amazing, music program. I feel really lucky to have taken advantage of it because there are so many students in Herricks that are not involved in the music department at all and it's something really cool to be a part of.

I heard today that Central Islip's music program was cut which is such a shame since their chamber choir was one of the few things if not the only thing that was going for them. Cutting music programs really piss me off. I think it would be better to cut a little bit from each program than cut out something so important as music. I think the people who choose to cut music underestimate the importance of music in school.

Workshop 2

We used lyrics today to a song from "City of Angels." We said some of the lines in different ways: love, anger, seduce, afraid. It's all about versatility. It helps actors get into their character better or understand their character. That's not exactly what I mean but it is the closest to what I'm trying to say.

I'm starting to remember last year's workshop a little better. I remember working on a specific monologue with Jill and it was hysterical because I had to play the sexual character. Innocent me playing a sexy girl who can't stop thinking about guys and doing things with guys. Yup - THAT makes sense. But this is what I really like about theater- you get to be people you wouldn't normally be!

Flowers - Comment!!

The tree next to my home is almost coming to full bloom and it's absolutely gorgeous! I want a professional camera to take a picture of it.

Jim Bonnie workshop tomorrow. He said he will be bringing in material so work with so I'm excited for that.

In my spare time in STAC I will be helping with Cassie's group. We are doing a "dance-ical" kind of like twyla tharp's musicals.

"Cloudburst" Eric Whitacre. Chamber is starting to learn "A boy and a girl" also by Whitacre. He is an amazing composer! His music is so lush and passionate. The first song I heard of his was "Sleep." It was so beautiful - a perfect song to fall asleep to or relax to.

I've been thinking lately about a lot of things. What if I studied music education in college? I really like how she teaches and I love the music she teaches. I think it would be really cool to be responsible for a group that is so passionate about music and that they are one of the best in the state and are chosen to go to ACDA All Eastern. Lady O says I would be good with little kids.

Let the College Game Begin...

Back at Jim Bonnie's workshop. I hope I get a better understand of acting the second time around. I think I will.

Sorry that I havn't been blogging the past few days. A LOT has been going on! I did write a long blog about formspring the other day but blogger.com had an error when I tried posting it and it didn't save. Just my luck..

I'm calculating my college tuitions. This is the college game: who ever is cheapest wins. Right now I calculated pace wagner and montclair state university and montclair is winning by 2ish thousand dollars. I didn't talk to all 3 of those schools, only pace and wagner, and wagner seems like the best choice in terms of opportunities for non-bfa students. But I still need to see what cortland, buffalo, and point park, and montclair offer for me in term of opportunities as a non-mt major.

Book Presentation

I actually had fun presenting my book. It was easy for me to talk nonstop because Twyla Tharp anything gets me excited! I was considering making a slide show but I did not think and non-mac slide show would convert to a mac. Also, I did not want to put in more work than I had to.
I was going to add another point to my presentation but it slipped my mind. Twyla Tharp writes as if she is having a personal conversation with you, which I think is really cool. It also made the reading more interesting and faster.
I was hesitant to go up to present. I'm not sure why. But when I got up there, I was fine. I enjoyed talking to the class about something only I, or few people in the class, know about.
It was a really cool experience and I wouldn't mind doing it again!

Herricks Love

Herricks model congress went so well. I feel like the Herricks delegation got closer this weekend. It's a whole different feeling working behind the scenes of model congress instead of being a guest. I was walking through the halls this morning and I thought "I really love it here." Of course, there are days when I would prefer to be anywhere but Herricks but when it comes down to it, Herricks is a great place. Not just because of it's academics, but because of all the friendly, open-minded people.

I was talking to someone today and they were going on a rant about how much they don't like it at Herricks. I told this person "you will regret saying this later." I forget what the person said back. But I have a feeling when he is graduating, he will realize he loves Herricks and will miss it dearly.

I love the camaraderie at Herricks. It's what makes me love it so much.

Bliss

"You Can't Always Get What You Want" - Glee

I love the harmonies in this song. Sometimes I enjoy listening to the glee covers than the original version.

It's colder than it was yesterday and the day before. I cannot believe yesterday reached 90 degrees! Or close to it.. But even though it is noticeably cooler, my room was still hot and humid when I came home from school. I opened the windows and turned on my small fan so that I was getting a breeze from the side and from behind me. It's becoming a little cold in my room but I'm loving the breeze and the setting sun. It reminds me of napping at the beach with the sun beating warmth down on you, hearing the waves, moves your feet in the sand. Ahh, it's my bliss.

Crash and Craypahs

"Up and down and still somehow...I really don't know life at all." - joni mitchell

This is so corny but it's true: life is full of surprises and you will never know what comes next. I find it fascinating that one day you can be on a high and the next you come crashing down almost as if the day before never happened.

Right now I'm working on the joni project with craypaws. I love craypaws. It's my favorite material (is medium the correct word to use?) I'm using "Both Sides Now." It's officially my favorite song.

As part of my daily practice I am going to leave the name of a song that I really love that day or in general. Hopefully this will help me find new music, something I like to do.

Loving Life

I feel a weight has been lifted off my sholders but another weight is about to be put on. I am LOVING, absolutely loving (and enjoying, life. I got a prom dress, passover is over, the weather is gorgeous, I have new clothes, I'm very happy, and I feel my mind is cleared of so much. my mind is clear. I have to enjoy it while it lasts.

I've been day dreaming a lot. my day dream lately have usually been about happy situations. In my case, I would be lucky to have these situations become a reality. But I am wise enough to know my day dreams won't come true. They never do. I want to stop day dreaming because some of the things I think about confuse me when I come back to reality. Also, I just think make believe in the mind should only happen for dreams while sleeping.

8 Weeks

In many of my classes today, teachers have been saying that this is the longest stretch of the school year: 8 weeks with no break. It doesn't sound too bad because the weeks of school between each break seemed longer than 8 weeks. I have a feeling these 8 weeks will go by faster than the rest of the school year.

I am still waiting to hear from muhlenberg college and if i was accepted to montclair's bfa program. I hope I get accepted to both. I called muhlenberg today because they sent a postcard saying I would hear about acceptance no later than April 1st and I didn't get notified. Due to a problem I had, they are still determining my acceptance and I be notified in a few days. I'm assuming I'll get a letter between friday and monday.

Why Tomorrow?

I need another day to relax. And why is school open on Passover? Not cool. They should cancel school tomorrow and Tuesday due to Passover. Only 12 more weeks left. Scary, exciting, and calm.

Enjoy this beautiful day!

mystery

One of the things that makes my mind go crazy is mystery. I am the type of person who wants alll of the facts out there before anything happens. Of course, taboo and shyness and how honest a person is gets in the way. This is one of the reasons why I am a very (obviously not always) honest person. I don't want to be lied to so I don't lie to people. Yes there are occasions when I lie but they are white lies that have no way of getting worse and it is used to protect myself.

30 days

30 days from today I will know where I will be spending the next four years of my life. That's scary.
